DIRECTIONS

How do we gain the knowledge and learn to understand the connection between our students’ cultural differences and their behavior at school? Janet Monseur-Durr is the Cultural Diversity Coordinator in one of the largest school districts in Ohio. She will share her experience and knowledge with school-based law enforcement and school administrators to assist in developing the skills necessary to both bridge the cultural differences of students and their families and to build a positive learning environment in Ohio’s schools.

Directions to the training site will be provided in a confirmation letter that will be sent upon registration to the training.

Cost:
Registration fee is $10 for OSROA members and $39 for non-members.  Fee includes training materials and morning refreshments. Cancellations must be made 72 business hours prior to the training date.

Cultural Diversity

  • Understand the connection among our identity, our perspective and our behavior.
  • Create best practices to increase trust with our students from various circumstances.
  • Build and sustain relationships with students and parents from different backgrounds.
  • Learn from and teach students to create a school climate of trust and decency.
  • Analyze real-life scenarios of cross-cultural conflicts with students and identify the issues and possible ways to address the conflict.
